Programme Outline
Falls and frailty continue to be burdensome for older people, their families and carers, and health and social care systems. Following the Covid-19 pandemic more older people live with frailty. This webinar will focus on new research and guidelines for preventing and managing falls and frailty in both those living in the community and in care settings. Engaging older people in physical activity, specifically strength and balance exercise, is key. Ensuring they can prevent a fall, fall better or rise from the floor after a fall maintains self-efficacy and reduces concern and avoidance of activity. There are differing exercise prescriptions needed in terms of primary prevention of frailty and falls or managing frailty and falls and dose is vital for effective outcomes. Behaviour change interventions alongside exercise advice can make all the difference. This session will help you support older people to live their best lives
