Programme Outline
In recent years, there has been growing recognition of the role that communities play in supporting individuals with life-limiting illness, caregiving, and end-of-life journeys. Compassionate Communities is an emerging public health approach that seeks to mobilise community networks, partnerships, and local initiatives to complement formal healthcare systems.
This session explores the development of CoCoSG, outlining its strategic direction, key initiatives, and the role of the Singapore Hospice Council in fostering cross-sector collaboration. We will also hear from community partners, the Mountbatten Citizens' Consultative Committee and Masjid Al-Muttaqin, who will share their motivations for coming onboard, their respective charters, action plans, and ongoing ground efforts. These real-world examples highlight how community stakeholders can meaningfully contribute to building supportive environments for care.
Through these perspectives, participants are invited to reflect on how healthcare professionals can engage, collaborate, and co-create with communities to build a compassionate and inclusive ecosystem where no one dies or grieves alone.
