Course Description: This course aims to equip Orthopaedic trained nurses or nurses with at least 1 year experience working in casting room, with the knowledge and skills to perform casting and splinting techniques in a safely manners and competently.
Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:
1. explain the anatomy of the skeletal structure of upper and lower limb.
2. discuss the principles in application of cast and splint.
3. perform application of cast and splint techniques correctly in a safe and competent manner.
4. perform removal of cast using electric saw cutter correctly in a safe and competent manner
5. discuss patient safety issues, effective care management of patient on cast / splint
6. discuss potential ethical issues related to care of patients with cast/splint
7. describe the potential complications related to cast /splint
8.demonstrate accurate documentation post application of cast/splint
